- Rockstar Games has apologised for the dire condition of GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition;
- Soon the original versions of the classic games will return to the market;
- The first patch announced yesterday is now available.
After a huge wave of criticism that descended on Rockstar Games and Groove Street Games, the former has finally decided to apologize for the disastrous condition of GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition. It was announced that the original versions of the classic games will be back on sale and patches to improve the games will be released. The first of the latter is already available.
In the announcement that was made available yesterday, we can read that Rockstar Games is aware that it has let its fans down and has not treated the series with the respect it deserves. The devs announced a long process of fixing GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition.
"Firstly, we want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has encountered issues playing these games..
The Grand Theft Auto series — and the games that make up this iconic trilogy — are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect.
We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be."
The first of many updates is now available on PC and consoles (excluding the Nintendo Switch version). It focuses on fixing many bugs related to collision detection, misplaced objects, NPC behavior, incorrect animations and subtitles.. The list of changes also suggests modifying the appearance of rain in GTA: San Andreas, but people have checked the effects of the patch and it does not look too good.
It was also reported that the classic trilogy will return to sale via Rockstar Games Launcher in the near future. Additionally people who buy GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition by June 22, 2022, will receive the old versions for free as compensation.
