Rockstar Thanks GTA Online Player For Fixing Loading Times, Prepares Patch [UPDATED]

Rockstar has thanked the creator of a fix for loading time in the PC edition of Grand Theft Auto Online. The publisher has also announced that the fix will be made available as official update.

T0ST updated

T0ST updated his post dedicated to reducing load times. In it, he confirmed that the announced patch for GTA Online will be available "soon" and that he has received $10,000 from Rockstar. The money was awarded as part of the publisher's program, which, as we mentioned in the original post, is usually used to reward the players for finding serious security vulnerabilities. T0ST also tried to find out more about the "technical details", but did not receive any specifics.

Original message

At the beginning of March, one of the regulars on GitHub managed to discover and remove the cause of very long loading times in PC edition of Grand Theft Auto Online. Of course, the solution prepared by user tosterCX (or T0ST) was completely unofficial, and its application could result in getting your account banned. Fortunately, there is good news for those who do not like to take such risks. Rockstar informed PC Gamer about the results of their own investigation, which should translate into the release of an official fix. It will hit GTA Online in the next update. The developers also thanked the user for discovering the source of the problem.

PC Gamer has not learned when exactly we can expect the debut of the fix. We also do not know whether Rockstar's gratitude translated into something more than words. In the past, the company has given out rewards for finding bugs in GTA Online, most notably those that would enable users to unfairly lock out another player's account. The drastic reduction in loading times may not be as serious an issue as security, but many players will welcome the fix with open arms. Some internet users have half-jokingly claimed that T0ST's reward for modifying the game's files could be... a ban on his account. Funny, but in the context of Rockstar's thanks to tosterCX we can most likely rule out this particular development.
