GTA 6 Trailer Shows How Much Rockstar is 'Pushing the Limits of Hardware, says Former GTA 5 Animator
Former Rockstar New England employee Mike York says GTA 6 developers will not only use the full power of currently available hardware, but will even push it to the limits of its capabilities.
Trailer of GTA VI looks great, but will the game be just as impressive at launch? After all, more than once we've witnessed situations in which cinematic trailers bear little resemblance to what we later fired up on our device. Grand Theft Auto VI is supposed to be different.
That's according to former Rockstar Games employee Mike York, who worked for nearly six years at Rockstar's New England division, where he was involved in the development of GTA V and RDR2. The former employee currently runs a YouTube channel titled York Reacts. There he recently posted footage of his reaction to the trailer of GTA VI.
The creator does not hide his delight at the sight of the record-breaking video. The former Rockstar employee was also tempted to analyze the video in terms of its visual layer. York focuses, among other things, on the fragment showing the beach of Vice City and a large number of NPCs, who engage in a variety of activities. According to him, this is made possible by the thousands (actually, hundreds of thousands) of animations prepared for the game.
Mike York claims that Rockstar Games, using the power of current hardware to the limit, will make GTA VI actually look like it does on the trailer.
"I'm impressed with how far they've gone with the graphics in the game. In many cases [when developers showcase their games - ed. note] you see videos, but that's not it. When you play this game, it really looks like this. Exactly the same. It's going to be amazing. I'm looking forward to it, because the artists at Rockstar Games really know how to push the limits of current consoles and other hardware with this level of detail," he explained.
So we can't help but stick to York's narrative and hope that indeed Rockstar Games will serve us equally stunning visuals in the game.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to debut in 2025. For now, the title is heading exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
