GTA 6 May Impress With Realistic Animations Thanks to New Technology
The animation system in GTA 6 promises to be very ambitious. This is the conclusion that can be drawn from a patent application filed by Take Two.
We still can't wait for the official announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is why we greet every shred of information about this project with great interest. The latest news concerns the impressive animation system that the sixth installment is expected to offer.
- We learned about the technology thanks to a patent application filed by the publisher of GTA, Take-Two Interactive.
- The patent describes a dynamic system with a rich selection of small segments of character movements, which are then combined into full animations. This is supposed to provide much more variety and natural feel in character reactions, as it will no longer be necessary to create separate full animations for each situation. Instead, by matching these segments appropriately, it is to be possible to quickly prepare character reactions for each situation.
- As a result, characters will be able to naturally change their animations depending on, for example, weather, humor or injuries. This will enable them to react realistically to the world and their own situation in it.
- The first examples of the use of this technology in GTA 6 could be seen in early video footage leaked online some time ago as a result of a hacking attack. These videos show, for example, a police officer adjusting his posture to match the height of his cover.
- Some fans suspect that already Red Dead Redemption 2 used an early version of this technology. GTA 6 will simply offer such a heavily enhanced version of it that Take-Two decided it was worth patenting.
This information fits with recent reports about the major improvements to the physical engine and the quality of the virtual world simulation GTA 6 is expected to offer.
Recall that, as of now, we still do not know when Grand Theft Auto VI will debut on the market. However, there are many indications that the game's debut is scheduled for fiscal year 2025, i.e. the period from April 2024 to March 2025.
