Great Space Strategy Allows You to Become Callously Indifferent and Discover Secrets of Fallen Empires. Cosmogenesis in New Season of Stellaris Looks Promising
Paradox Interactive shared details of the 8th season of the space strategy game Stellaris. Several new features await players, including the Cosmogenesis path, which will include maintaining callous indifference and discovering the secrets of fallen empires.
The Machine Age is the ninth expansion for the 4X space strategy game Stellaris, which is part of the ongoing 8th season starting from April 11th. With the premiere of the expansion, players will get a lot of new content. One of the most interesting elements seems to be the new crisis path.
According to the information contained in an entry in the developer diary on Steam, Cosmogenesis - as this is the name of this path - is quite different from Galactic Nemesis from the Nemesis expansion, which allows players to "embrace their darkest impulses" to act with "explicit malice, intentionally attempting to maximize the amount of suffering they can cause.” The empire following the path of Cosmogenesis, in turn, poses a threat because of its "callous indifference."
Similar to Galactic Nemesis, Cosmogenesis allows you to choose an ascension perk unless the players become Custodians or Emperors, or lose their independence. However, the devs emphasize that "unlike the previous crisis path, however, this one is not ethics locked."
Cosmogenesis stands out in that, unlike Galactic Nemesis, which prioritized "quantity over quality," it enables the discovery of the secrets of fallen empires, thus approaching the attainment of the power they held in their heyday. The Synaptic Lathe will help with this, which is a research center where the power of minds is used for processing and storing data. Developers add that it is based on a simplified version of the planetary interface and it can be upgraded twice.
Players can conduct experiments with reality using the Synaptic Lathe 4th rank, which has the potential to impact the entire galaxy or a part of it. However, this won't guarantee a victory - only the construction of the Horizon Needle, a massive ship that bends the laws of physics, in which we will transport the residents of our colonies to a new world, will make it possible. After achieving victory or suffering defeat, players will be able to start the game anew, and their "old" empire will become one of the fallen ones.
In Stellaris update 3.12, the developers will also add an option to reconnect to the game in multiplayer mode. This will help players who experience unforeseen technical problems.
Finally, let us remind you that the premiere of The Machine Age expansion will take place on May 7.
