The release of Ghostwire: Tokyo has been postponed. Tango Gameworks, the studio behind The Evil Within, has announced that its new game will not be released this year.
Ghostwire: Tokyo will not be released this year. Tango Gameworks has officially confirmed that the title will not be released until early 2022. The information about the delay was shared on the game's official Twitter profile:
Tango Gameworks has recently become Microsoft's property - and that's due to the high-profile acquisition of the team's owner, Bethesda Softworks, a few months ago. Nonetheless Ghostwire: Tokyo is still subject to exclusivity deal fir Sony consoles. This means that the title will appear on Xboxes only a year after its release on PC and PlayStation 5.
In Ghostwire: Tokyo, the Japanese capital is taken over by forces from beyond this world. The player, as a character who survived the mysterious catastrophe, has a number of special abilities at his or her disposal, which will help them to defeat enemies and discover the mystery of the disappearance of almost the entire population of the city. The title is supervised by Shinji Mikami - the father of the Resident Evil series.
Ikumi Nakamura was originally the creative director of the game, but she left the ranks of Tango in 2019, which was certainly a blow to the studio. She explained her decision with "burnout" and health issues.
