Genshin Impact Becomes New Mobile Hit
Genshin Impact has almost instantly become a great success also on mobile devices. In four days since its release on Android and iOS, the title was downloaded 17 million times.
There is no denying that Genshin Impact is a huge (and quite unexpected) success. According to GamesIndustry.biz, this free action RPG from MiHoYo has scored the best international debut when it comes to Chinese games. The title was a great success not only on PC and PlayStation 4, but also on Android and iOS mobile devices. In the first four days after its release on September 28, it has been downloaded 17 million times.
That's not all. By October 1, the title had earned $1.84 million on Apple phones and tablets alone. According to well-known industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, adding up game's revenues from all platforms, in the first week after the launch, the company earned $50 million. The most willing to pay are the Chinese, Japanese and Americans (via IGN). This is an impressive amount, but it does not yet cover the game's budget. It amounted to more than $100 million, including marketing costs.
All these figures look very optimistic for MiHoYo. The question is, will Genshin Impact be able to retain its popularity for longer? We'll see about that in the near future.
Genshin Impact, currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Android and iOS, will also be released next year on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
