How to Increase Damage Underwater in Genshin Impact; Best Weapon Explained
While diving in Genshin Impact, you can fight using the Abilities of the Transoceanic Sourcewater, and skills borrowed from various Xenochromatic creatures. You can recognize them by a blue color palette and small glowing icons above their heads. If you learn their ability, you will have the same symbol next to you. You can only use one ability at the time.
The damage from these abilities appears to be fixed no matter what your equipment or level is. However, there are two weapons in the game which allow you to deal additional damage with every attack. What’s more, they are relatively easy to obtain.
These are the 5 star bow Skyward Harp and the 3 star sword Fillet Blade. Skyward Harp is a Standard Wish bow available in the game since release. It can also be obtained from the Event Wish if you fail to pull the featured weapon.
Fillet Blade is a common drop from chests, and it can also be obtained from the NPC Amenoma Tougo in Inazuma City.
When using underwater attacks with either of these weapons equipped, you will notice additional damage is being inflicted. The chance to deal bonus hits increases with the Refinement rank of your weapon.
Skyward Harp and Fillet Blade are the only weapons that have a chance to inflict additional damage when attacks land regardless of how you hit the enemy. Other weapons with similar passive skills specify the type of damage they’re triggered by, and don’t work with underwater abilities.

You can boost the secondary damage from your weapon’s passive skill by equipping the Bloodstained Chivalry Artifact set together with Skyward Harp. The 2-piece set effect of Bloodstained Chivalry increases Physical Attack by 25%. It can be farmed in the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain in Liyue.
The best characters to use with this build are Yoimiya or Ganyu.
If you don’t have Skyward Harp you may use the Gladiator’s Finale Artifact set with Fillet Blade to increase your Attack by 18% with 2-piece bonus. It can be obtained from fighting world bosses.
