Gears of War Remaster Approaching; GoW 2 and 3 in Demand on PC
Microsoft's trademark application has reignited speculation about remastered edition of the Gears of War series.
Trademark applications are a delicious source of information about officially unannounced projects. The latest example of this was provided by Microsoft.
- A few days ago, the Redmond-based company filed a application to register the name Gears of War.
- This is a renewal of a trademark that the company already owned, but this did not stop the speculations that this is how Microsoft is preparing to announce something new.
- They are not unfounded, as earlier this year there were rumors from reliable sources, according to which Microsoft is preparing a collection of refreshed installments of Gears of War, in the vein of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
- Therefore, fans suspect that the trademark renewal may be related to these remasters.
Of course, Microsoft may have simply renewed the rights to the brand name not because of any particular project. It is also worth remembering that we know that The Coalition has been for some time working on Gears 6. However, recent rumors of remasters sounded convincing, so most likely that's what this is all about.
One of the reasons we're hoping for a collection of this type is that it would enable PC gamers to fill in the gaps in the series. After all, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment have never been released on PC. Currently, the best way to play these titles on computers is to use the streaming service xCloud as part of the most expensive Game Pass subscription. Thanks to a fan project Keyboard &Mouse for Cloud (available in versions for Chrome and Edge) you can even play them quite comfortably with a mouse and keyboard, but still, official ports of the games would be a much better experience, especially if they were remastered on the same occasion.
