Gameplay From Wayward Realms - FPP RPG from The Elder Scrolls Veterans

A new behind-the-scenes video showing the development of The Wayward Realms has hit the web. It contains the first gameplay fragment from this RPG created by veterans of The Elder Scrolls series.

Founded by veterans of The Elder Scrolls, studio Once Lost Games has released new video footage from the RPG The Wayward Realms (available below).

The video takes the form of the first episode of a series of developer diaries, describing the game's creation process. The most interesting part of the footage is its ending, as it offers the first gameplay fragment from The Wayward Realms. The previous trailer focused solely on presenting the game's atmosphere.

The game is at a very early stage of work and the presented gameplay comes from the pre-alpha version. So it's not surprising that the game on the video looks very rough. One may even ask oneself whether showing one's work at such an early stage makes any sense at all, as after watching this gameplay many players may become discouraged.

Even the Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, shown at gamescom 2022, also in pre-alpha version, looks much better (another thing is that it is at a more advanced stage of development and is expected to hit early access before the end of the year), although in the case of this project there is no shortage of voices that the authors should have waited with the presentation of gameplay until the title is more polished.

In addition to the unfortunate gameplay fragment, the footage from The Wayward Realms is interesting. In creating a huge world of 200,000 square kilometers of space, the devs will use advanced procedural generation systems, which are expected to provide a large variety of locations. Among other things, the developers have created algorithms capable of quickly creating multi-level dungeons, reportedly presenting a quality typical of hand-designed levels.

The Wayward Realms is expected to combine the premise of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall with modern technology and gameplay enhancements to which modern gamers are accustomed. Among the developers is Julian LeFay, who was responsible for much of the story background of Bethesda's early installments of the series.
