The Wayward Realms Description
The Wayward Realms is an RPG with a huge open world, which is set in the original fantasy universe. The game is inspired by the first and second part of The Elder Scrolls series. The Once Lost Games studio, founded by former Bethesda Softworks employees Ted Peterson, Julian LeFay and Vijay Lakshman, is behind its development and publishing.
Plot
The Wayward Realms is set in a varied location known simply as the Archipelago (a collection of over a hundred islands governed by different forces and factions), and more specifically in a kingdom located in the north of this land - Sidh. The player takes the role of a traveller trying to find his own way and gain fame.
Mechanics
The Wayward Realms is a classic RPG in which the gameplay focuses on exploring a 3D environment, talking to NPCs (there are many different races, such as humans, dwarves and elves), completing quests and combat. What makes the game different is the size and realistic scale of the open world (for this reason, the developers consider it to be the pioneer of a new sub-genre known as Grand RPG).
An important role is played by factions, which we encounter during the game. We are talking, for example, about Loremasters gathered in The Library of Logos - or dangerous Inquisition which harasses them. It is worth mentioning that the player has freedom in creating relations with particular factions. Both the relations with them, and the game's plot, are shaped by the choices made during the game.
Game modes
In The Wayward Realms we can play only alone. The core of the game is the story campaign.
Technical aspects
The game features a rather mundane and dark art style, which is seen, for example, in the character and monster designs.
