Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere
The eighth season of Game of Thrones is here. HBO broadcasted first of the season's six episodes and published a video presenting the backstage of the production process.
We've finally seen the start of the last season of Game of the Thrones. The HBO station has broadcast the first episode, making it available on the HBO GO service. An almost 7-minute video was also released showing the backstage of the production of this episode.
The season 8 will consist of six episodes. The first two are standard length, a little less than one hour. The next four will be longer, closing in 78-82 minutes.
The first episode of the series was aired in April 2011. A few months later, the novel A Dance with Dragons was published. To this day, it remains the last part of the Song of Ice and Fire series, on which HBO's hit is based. This means that the television crew managed to make it past seven seasons before the writer George R.R. Martin finished the next book in the series.
Fans of the novel's original are divided in the evaluation of the series. Many of them, however, have already given up hope that the book cycle will ever be completed. The advantage of the television adaptation is that it will provide at least some closure of the story, based on Martin's original plans.
It is worth mentioning that the eighth and last season of Game of the Throne will not be the end of the franchise in television. HBO is planning a spin-off entitled The Long Night. The series will take us back a few thousand years to the past of Westeros, focusing on the gloomy period known as the Long Night, two decades of winter.
