Huge news for PlayStation owners has spread worldwide – Forza Horizon 5 will be the first game in the Forza series to launch on PS5 this spring. And let’s just say Xbox enthusiasts aren’t too thrilled, to put it mildly. Some are even calling it a betrayal, while Sony fans are celebrating the chance to experience one of the best open-world racing games on their platform.

PlayStation wins this round

Let’s go back to the beginning. Many of us had a hunch that Microsoft’s era of exclusivity was coming to an end when they began bringing their games to other platforms. That suspicion was soon confirmed by Phil Spencer in an interview, where he even hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PlayStation. While fans speculated that titles like Halo or Gears of War might follow, it was Playground Games that made the biggest surprise announcement – Forza Horizon 5 is officially coming to PS5 later this year.

Needless to say, while some are rejoicing, others are furious, questioning things like, ‘this is how they repay us?’ or simply declaring, ‘PlayStation won’. Some have even posted images of their Xbox consoles smashes to pieces. Meanwhile, proud Sony fans are joking, ‘What should I choose? Forza or Gran Turismo? How about both?’.

But I think my favorite comment comes from u/Ok_Tooth_7532 on the Forza Horizon subreddit: ‘Xbox is about to be SEGA. No console, only games.....and controllers’. While it's a bit of an exaggeration, it really captures the current vibe of the industry. Physical games are dying, exclusives are disappearing, and Nintendo will be the last one standing with their old-school model.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
