Forgotten Xbox exclusive with beautiful graphics lives on. Phil Spencer reminded of promising open-world game
The head of Xbox confirmed that Everwild is being developed and the team is making progress. He says the developers have been given as much time as they need.

Some of you will certainly recognize the British studio Rare, owned by Microsoft, which created such games as Sea of Thieves, Banjo-Kazooie, Battletoads, and GoldenEye 007. In 2019, the team announced the new Everwild brand, which was rumored to be rebooted in 2021 and has remained a big unknown ever since. It has now been confirmed that the game is being developed.
Everwild devs don't have to worry about time
Recently, the developers of Everwild made themselves known through Christmas wishes, and now Phil Spencer has spoken about the game on the Xbox Era podcast. The head of Xbox confirmed that the title is still alive, and the team is constantly working on it.
And the other one, I’ll say because I was recently out at Rare. It’s nice to see the team with Everwild and the progress that they’re making.
Spencer admitted that it has been several years since the last piece of information about Everwild, but he is glad that Microsoft can provide Rare Studio with the time to work on it. Especially since the company still has a rich portfolio of games that are being released in the meantime.
We've been able to give those teams time in what they're doing which is good and still have a portfolio like we have. It's like a dream that Matt [Booty] and I have had for a long time, so it's finally good to be there. We can give those teams time.
Unfortunately, we still don't know when we can expect any new news about the game. We can only hope that the time Spencer spoke about will be well used by Rare and when we finally see Everwild, it will be a truly successful and unique game.
In Everwild we will have the opportunity to explore a mysterious, magical forest with an open structure, filled with creatures that resemble beings from fairy tales. The title should stand out with an attractive graphic design, an original artistic project, and an atmosphere that brings to mind animated films from Studio Ghibli.
