First Gameplay From Magic: Legends - Hack'n'slash Set in MTG Universe
Game Informer published the first gameplay from Magic: Legends - a new game based on the license of Magic: The Gathering. And this is just the beginning, because the website has prepared a lot of coverage about the game for January.
At the end of the year, we got to know another game based on the license of the popular card game Magic: The Gathering. This time it was not a virtual adaptation of the original CCG (Collectible Card Game), but a MMORPG called Magic: Legends. At least that's what the first information showed, because recent reports indicate that the game represents a slightly different genre. Game Informer has prepared an extensive report on the title, which will be released gradually throughout January. The editors also published the first of many presentations of the game itself. The material is very short, but if you are interested, you can watch it below.
After the announcement in December, the developers mentioned a mix of MMOs and action RPGs, which forced the game to be classified as a MMORPG. However, the first gameplay shows that the production is basically a typical isometric hack'n'slash with hordes of enemies to chop up with weapons, magic and summoned minions. It is not clear how the "mass web gaming" aspect is to manifest itself. We will be able to complete the game with a group of friends, but there will also be a possibility to play solo.
Although the first article from Game Informer does not give away any details, there is a very interesting mention in it. The website mentions the necessity of creating a deck consisting of 12 cards, which are to change constantly within a cycle. Four of them are described as "active cards", which may simply mean skills that require activation, but it is not certain. However, this confirms that Magic: Legends doesn't completely cut itself off from the card game original. What exactly has the team at Cryptic Studios prepared for us, we will find out in the coming weeks. We'll be waiting longer for the game itself, which will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But don't count on an early debut, the first gameplay confirms that the production is still in pre-alpha stage.
