Fire at STALKER 2 Dev Studio; Team Reassures: 'We Dealt With Worse'
Fate has once again played a trick on the developers at GSC Game World. A fire broke out in the Prague branch of the studio, consuming a large part of the office space it occupied.
Some kind of curse seems to be weighing on GSC Game World. As a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine, a large part of the team working on Heart of Chornobyl had to leave the war-stricken country and move to the Czech Republic. Subsequently, the developers were attacked by Russian hackers. When it seemed that the situation had somewhat stabilized, another disturbing news came.
As reported by the editors of the Czech website Vortex, On September 7, a fire broke out at the GSC Game World branch in Prague, consuming one of the three floors occupied by the studio. According to reports, the floor was to house, among other things, servers with data backups.
One of the employees reassured on the company's official Discord channel that no people were hurt as a result of the incident. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the occupied office space, which is up for major renovation.
The developer stated that the accident is being investigated, and assured that such situations will not stop the developers "in their pursuit of the ultimate goal.".
At the time of writing this news, we do not know whether the fire will lead to a possible further delay in the release of STALKER 2. The game's release, as you may recall, has already been delayed several times. According to information provided at this year's gamescom, the title is scheduled to appear on the market in the first quarter of 2024.
