Cyberpunk 2077 Achieved Something Great Just Before Phantom Liberty's Launch
Cyberpunk 2077 has more than half a million positive reviews on Steam. Few games can boast a better score. Will the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion help improve it?
Premiere of the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is fast approaching. It will debut on September 26 - which is exactly two weeks and one day from now - on PC, PS5 and XSX/S.
The launch will happen two years and nine and a half months after the release of the base game. The latter, although it received a lot of criticism in the beginning, has become an excellent game thanks to updates released by studio CD Projekt Red.
This is confirmed by the data from the Steam database. As I write these words, Cyberpunk 2077 has 635,396 reviews on Valve's platform, of which:
- 500,424 are positive (78.24%);
- 134,972 are negative (21.76%).
Although the percentage of favorable reviews is far from 95% - that's how many reviews are required for "overwhelmingly positive" reception - it's worth noting the sheer number of players who have expressed their opinion of the title on Steam, but also the fact that the score for the last 30 days is an excellent 90%.
Especially impressive seems to be more than half a million positive reviews - Cyberpunk 2077 isin this respect the 22nd game in the history of Steam. This should be considered quite a feat, especially considering the game's difficult launch. The top of the ranking in question is shown in the graphic below.
It remains for the developers and players to wish that the Phantom Liberty expansion will push the score even higher. Of course, the expansion will receive separate reviews, but some players will surely consider its release a good time to finally check out the base game. And before you ask - yes, the base game is required to play the expansion.
As a reminder, we learned on Friday how many GB of data will need to be downloaded to install Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty on the PS5. You can find the details in separate message.
