Firaxis Games, the developer behind such series as Civilization and XCOM, is looking to hire someone experienced in a narrative to develop a strategy game.

We have known for some time that Firaxis Games studio is working on several projects, including one new brand. It's not surprising that the developer is looking for talented people to join its ranks. On the Greenhouse portal, we can find quite a list of jobs. As noted by PCGamesN, one of them is for a Narrative Lead, who will work as the main scriptwriter. A person willing to take this job must know how to write dialogues, be able to create a living world and interesting characters. What's more interesting - they will do that for a strategy games, and an interest in the history of the world is a welcome feature.
This information brings to mind the Sid Meier's Civilization series. Currently, it is the only franchise belonging to the studio that fits here. Therefore, it is possible that the next instalment of the series may already be in the making. However, other possibilities should be taken into account. The sixth part of the series seems to be almost done, as the company released the last free update as part of the New Frontier. However, it is not excluded that the developers will decide to make more seasons or that the game will receive some paid content. In addition, the developer is also working on a new mysterious project.
What conditions must be met to get this job? You need to have a proven history of working on a similar position on at least one AAA project and be an experienced writer - at least 3 years of working with games. In addition, you should have no problems creating stories presented via cinematic cut-scenes. You should also have very good interpersonal skills, as you will be working with many people, including (or perhaps especially) the directors overseeing the project.
