FIFA 22 vs. FIFA 21 Compared on PC and Last-gen Consoles
FIFA 22 will look best on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. And what about PCs and last-gen consoles? We'll find changes there too, though they'll be less significant.
FIFA 22 was recently officially announced by Electronic Arts. We've learned that the new HyperMotion technology will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia. But what about the version for last-gen consoles and PCs? Here's a look at how they'll differ from FIFA21.
FIFA 22 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be a continuation and expansion on the ideas of FIFA 21. While we won't be seeing the aforementioned HyperMotion animation technology here, EA Sports guarantees that we'll still get fundamental changes to the gameplay that will bring the game even closer to realism. It seems that the situation can be compared with the transition from FIFA 20 to 21 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Gameplay in FIFA 22 on PS4, Xbox One and PC should be noticeably different from what we remember from the previous installment, but it will not be a revolution. If the developers have taken to heart the feedback from fans about FIF21, they may have decided to make changes to the strength and accuracy of passes, the accuracy of shots from distance and a weaker AI assist on defence.
EA Sports has also assured us that new features relating to the widely understood content of FIFA 22 will be available on both new and legacy hardware. Regardless of which platform we play on, we'll be able to enjoy the new Career Mode, FUT Heroes cards in Ultimate Team and other significant changes brought by FIFA 22.
The worst situation is on the Nintendo Switch console. There EA gives us the game FIFA 22: Legacy Edition, which differs from 2018's FIFA 19 only with updated team rosters and jerseys. We will not experience here any changes in gameplay or game modes compared to its predecessors.
FIFA 22 will launch on October 1, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PCs and Google Stadia. On Nintendo Switch, we'll be able play a truncated version called FIFA 22: Legacy Edition. Pre-orders can now be placed, and buying the Ultimate edition will give us a few days earlier access to the game (from September 27).
