The first reviews of the new installment of the football game series from Electronic Arts - FIFA 22 - have appeared online. Critics' opinions are mixed, but fans can be reassured by the fact that they vacillate between calling the game "very good" and "pretty good".. So far Metacritic has mostly reviews for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. The average score is 79 for the former and 78 for the latter. For comparison, the previous installment, namely FIFA 21, can boast an average result of 74 points on almost all platforms.

Reviewers praise the Hyper Motion technology, which enables players to move in a more natural way (although some see this as purely cosmetic change). There's also improved goalkeeper AI and animations, as well as an improved ball handling feel. Opinions are divided on the career mode, although many reviewers say it's better than in previous games. The same goes for the Volta mode, which lets us move from large stadiums to smaller, more intimate fields. There is no consensus here either, with some criticising it for not being new enough, while others appreciate the small changes. FIFA Ultimate Team also received a refresh, but the core of one of the most popular modes remained the same.
In essence, this is how reviewers sum up FIFA 22. There is talk about many small changes, but inside it's still FIFA that we know so well. How one feels about the game will depend on what solutions and mechanics one prefers. Some say it's the best installment in the series, others say it's a copy of FIFA 21 with better graphics and altered details.
Players will see for themselves how good the latest FIFA is on October 1 (some of them already do in Early Access), when it debuts on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.
