Farming Simulator 22 Bests Forza Horizon 5 in Europe
Christopher Dring presented some interesting financial results regarding the sales of video games in Europe. According to the data Farming Simulator 22 sold on better than Forza Horizon 5 or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the old continent.
Trusted editor of GamesIndustry, Christopher Dring shared some interesting facts on Twitter about game sales in Europe this year. As it turns out, Farming Simulator 22 sold better than hits like Forza Horizon 5, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Monster Hunter: Rise or The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.
Winner of this year's Game Awards in the "Game of the Year" category - It Takes Two - turned out to be the biggest new game IP in Europe, leaving Outriders far behind. FIFA 22, however, is the number one in terms of sales on the old continent in 2021. Interestingly, the latest installment of the football series sold better than its predecessor.
"There are only two 'new' games in the Top Ten for Europe (GSD data)... Call of Duty: Vanguard and Super Mario 3D World Bowser's Fury. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl would be in there if those games were counted as one. Far Cry 6 still has a couple of weeks to make it."
Beloved by players, Resident Evil Village is at this moment the fifth best-selling game on PlayStation 5. However, even here FIFA 22 boasts the top spot, slightly ahead of Spider-Man.
However, all indications are that it was another year dominated by Nintendo Switch in many European territories, although PlayStation 5 appears to have led the way in the UK, as well as smaller markets such as Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Dring will share a full report for 2021 very soon.
