Fans Disappointed With PlayStation State of Play

Yesterday's episode of State of Play did not feature many announcements of games from Sony's stable. As a result, some fans are disappointed with the show, even though the company informed in advance what to expect from the presentation.

After yesterday's State of Play, some people started to disregard the power of PlayStation.

Sony's June show made a big fuss on the web. The release of the appearance of PlayStation 5, a handful of hot announcements - all this made The Future of Gaming the most interesting event organized by the publishers in place of the canceled E3 2020. The same cannot be said of the latest episode of State of Play. After the end of yesterday's presentation many players started to express their disappointment with Sony's presentation in social media.

At first glance, the fans' claims seem justified. Yesterday's State of Play has announced nothing like another Resident Evil, Demon's Souls remake etc. Nor was there any information about the games on PlayStation 5, let alone the console itself. There is only one problem - we knew that before the presentation started. As soon as Sony announced the show at the beginning of the week, it was indicated that we would not receive any news about the PS5. Yesterday's State of Play was to focus on games on the fourth PlayStation and PlayStation VR, as well as games from third-party and independent studios.

As we can see, we're dealing here with a case of overblown expectations running against Sony's announcements and disclaimers. This is not new for this type of show. Fans tend to disbelieve the publishers' assurances, partly right (see Nintendo leaving some surprises at the end of the Nintendo Direct presentation). It also needs to be said that many players have appreciated State of Play. The new video presenting many novelties from Crash Bandicoot's fourth installment has evoked considerable enthusiasm on social media. The more modest, but still large group of people were attracted by smaller announcements like Hood: Outlaws and Legends. However, let's hope that Sony's next show will have plenty of information about the next generation of PlayStation titles.
