Fan-made Witcher movie with professional actors got its first trailer
There is an interesting fan-made film project in the works set in the Witcher universe. The team managed to hire some professional actors for the roles of Dandelion, Triss Merigold and Lambert.
Before the full-fledged Witcher movie by Polish director Tomasz Baginski hits the big screen, we will get to see another film set in the popular fantasy universe. We’re talking about a fan-made short movie entitled Alzur’s Legacy (in Polish: Half a Century of Poetry Later, which refers to Dandelion’s magnum opus from the Witcher books), which was successfully crowdfunded last year. The motion picture is going to be about 30-minutes long and it launches this December. Here’s the aforementioned trailer, as well as the first production demo:
Alzur’s Legacy’s story is set a few decades after the events of the Lady of the Lake, the last book in the Witcher saga by Andrzej Sapkowski, and is apparently not going to refer to CD Projekt RED’s games. A series of massacres has put the witchers at the brink of extinction, with only Lambert (Geralt of Rivia’s friend) remaining. On his journey, the last of the monster slayers meets some of his old friends, including Dandelion and the poet’s adolescent son Julian, the sorceress Triss Merigold, and Ciri. The four of them will get entangled in a chain of mysterious events, which will put them against the question: who is a real monster?
Interestingly, the fans behind the project managed to hire some professional Polish actors, including Zbigniew Zamachowski, who had already done quite well as Dandelion in the otherwise not-so-good The Hexer (Wiedzmin) Polish movie from 2001.
