Todd Howard on Fallout 76 Launch: „There Was Very Little we Didn't Screw Up”

Renowned developer Todd Howard from Bethesda Softworks admitted that the launch of company's Fallout 76 was a failure, noting the devs screwed up pretty much everything they could.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Todd Howard admitted that Bethesda Softworks failed to handle the release of Fallout 76;
  2. According to the developer, working with Microsoft should prevent similar problems in the future.

To say that Fallout 76 was a disappointment would be an understatement of the year. Bethesda Game Studios' latest title has been a flop of epic proportions. The game received poor reviews and was mentioned mainly in connection with serious bugs, problems and mistakes for months. One of the most famous developers on the team, Todd Howard, admitted during yesterday's event that virtually everything that could have been screwed up at the time of the game's release ended up screwed (via PCGamer).

"When that game launched, the litany of issues we had, and we let a lot of people down, and, well, there was very little we didn't screw up honestly," admitted the developer.

Howard believes that thanks to Microsoft similar problems should be avoided in the future. The developer expressed hope that cooperation with the Redmond giant will allow for better QA before release, and access to the Game Pass ecosystem should make it easier to organize such things as open beta-tests.

Interestingly, the developer also noted that Fallout 76 is currently "one of the most played games on Xbox".
