Gamers Don't Want Worlds in Fallout 76; Would Prefer Story Expansions
Some fans aren't convinced that the Worlds mode is what Fallout 76 needs, and would prefer more story expansions instead.
- Some players are not happy about the upcoming release of Worlds mode in Fallout 76;
- Instead, they would prefer more story expansions;
- Many fans are also calling for new challenges and bosses.
Fallout 76's debut is not to be envied. At the time of its release the game became a worldwide laughing stock and was often sold for ridiculously low prices. Bethesda, however, took to work and did not abandon the title. It began to create subsequent updates, which expanded the game and brought it closer to what according to the fans should be a proper Fallout. Some of them, such as Steel Dawn and Steel Reign were received very positively by the players. Unfortunately, Bethesda has recently had another slip up.
It is associated with the upcoming release of Fallout Worlds mode. On paper, it should appeal to the fans, because it will allow for customization of gameplay rules. Players will be able to change enemy stats, play with physics, or modify many other elements of the game. Unfortunately, as you can see from their reactions, this is not the kind of content they expected. Instead, they would prefer more story expansions, which would bring the title closer to a full-fledged RPG.
One of the main places where players are showing their displeasure is Reddit, where user by the handle Ben-333 posted his message. Within a few days, it was commented on several hundred times.
"This is something we all know by now, but I had to say it, to maintain the fan base we need real story and progression content like Wastelanders and the Brotherhood line, these modes like Nuclear Winter and Worlds are just an unnecessary waste of resources and time that can be spent in adventure mode," writes Ben-333.
"I think what it needs is like someone mentioned around Seasons - bring out small blocks of story every month. That stops binging but then also make it engaging with a repeatable part," suggests AntiochRoad.
Other players said that an equally important element of the game's development is to provide new and interesting challenges. The ones that are currently available in the game seem to be too monotonous. For many players, after completing the story missions, only completing the S.C.O.R.E. board makes sense.
"I feel that this game needs more world events/ world bosses that the server can come together to fight," writes Mythic-Insanity
"Story content is very expensive to produce and is very quickly consumed by players (...). I’d rather have new world bosses, “dungeons”, events - smth worth grinding and worth grinding for completing better and quicker," concludes dajolie
Fortunately, player expectations will most likely be met. The next announced expansion for Fallout 76 is The Pitt, which will be another story DLC. At the same time, the developers assured that this content was designed in a way that it should allow for multiple playthroughs. Moreover, in the future the game will receive more updates called Expeditions. These will take players on short story-driven adventures outside of Appalachia.
