Fallout 2 Locations Showcased in New Trailer of Fan Remake
Fallout 4: Project Arroyo is still alive. The developers of the fan-made remake of Fallout 2 have reminded people of its existence with a new trailer and have teamed up with a team working on a similar mod.
Fallout fans working on Fallout 4 Project Arroyo have released new gameplay footage. The mod in question, which is a refresh of the second part of the post-apocalyptic series, appeared with another trailer (the first in four years) during C3, a broadcast organized by modders associated with Bethesda games.
The idea of the creators of Project Arroyo is to port Fallout 2 to the iteration of the Creation Engine used in Fallout 4 . However, for a long time, the team showed no signs of life. Even on the mod's new Discord channel, there wasn't much to go with.
However, it turns out that the group was by no means idle. Not only did they prepare a trailer presenting several iconic locations from Fallout 2, but they also announced cooperation with the creators of Vault 13 (via Discord ). Vault 13 mod has very similar ambitions - only that instead of "2" they want to transfer the first installment of the series to the F4 engine. This collaboration may be beneficial because certain elements overlap in both projects, so their creators can speed up their work by exchanging resources.
Of course, Creation Engine used in F4 is no spring chicken ("fourth" will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the premiere in a year), and the end result won't look like a modern game for PS5 and XSX/S platforms - but the teams have no choice. Fallout 4 is so far the last part of the series (if you don't count Fallout 76, but as an online game it is not very suitable as a basis for such a project) and for now, there is no indication that Bethesda has the fifth full-fledged installment of the series underway.
Nevertheless, many fans hope to get their hands on Project Arroyo and Vault 13 as soon as possible. Perhaps it will happen this year, but for now, both mods have no release date. Fortunately, there is also another fan project on the way (if only one): Fallout: London, which will debut on April 23rd.
