Timothy Cain is a legendary developer with great fame, who played the role of, among others, lead programmer on the first Fallout, released in 1997. The man regularly posts on his YouTube channel materials about the behind-the-scenes of working on well-known titles. He addressed the most frequently asked question from fans in one of his recent videos, likely stemming from curiosity following the recent success of the Fallout series. The point is; would Tim Cain be willing to take on a new game in this post-apocalyptic series?

At the beginning, the developer briefly stated that the answer is more complicated than it may seem. His decision would depend on what exactly the project set in the Fallout universe would be - a full-fledged remake of the first game, a New Vegas-style spin-off, or the fifth installment in the typical Bethesda style.

Cain wouldn't be interested in creating something he had already worked on in the past. He mentioned that throughout his career, he has almost always been willing to work on developing a game that is different from what he had known so far, or thematically unrelated to his previous games. For instance, he enthusiastically started working on the fantastic Arcanum after the post-apocalyptic Fallout, on South Park: The Stick of Truth because he had not previously created anything for consoles, and on Pillars of Eternity due to the transition to an unknown engine.

So if the next one Fallout would be something completely new and different from the previous installments, and Tim Cain would probably seriously consider the offer of cooperation on the project - if any were made at all.

The first question I would ask would be: 'What's new about it?' If you don't have an immediate answer, if you go, 'Well, I don't know, we may put in a new perk,' I'm probably not interested.
