It Had Manual Like a Brick; Now It Will Get a Successor; Falcon 5.0 Announced
The head of MicroProse shared information about a number of upcoming projects - including Falcon 5.0 and the Apache helicopter simulator.
In a recent interview with PC Pilot, David Lagettie, i.e., MicroProse's CEO, revealed information about a number of projects that the publisher is preparing for simulator fans.
Falcon 5.0
First of all, Lagettie confirmed that MicroProse is currently in the planning stages for Falcon 5.0.
- The game will enable us to fly different types of aircraft from the day of its release.
- Among the available aircraft will be the F-35.
- Lagettie stressed that the game will cater not only to hardcore simulation enthusiasts, but also to casual players who simply want to experience the thrill of flight.
Remake of the B-17 Flying Fortress: the Mighty Eight
Work on this project is progressing at a good pace.
- The game is expected to debut in early access before this year's Christmas holidays.
- Lagettie revealed that this highly anticipated remake has almost never seen the light of day. After a lengthy search for the original game's source code yielded no results, the project was on the verge of being scrapped. It was saved when, by chance, one of the former MicroProse employees found the source code in his attic.
Apache Sim
MicroProse is also working on an Apache helicopter simulation that will, as Lagettie put it, "stay true to the company's authentic style."
Combat Air Patrol 2
The company has taken this project under its wing. The project debuted in early access in 2016, but its development stopped long ago. MicroProse is not only preparing a major update for the game, but also plans to use its engine to develop an entirely new simulation of the Battle of Britain.
