Factorio was Never Discounted, Now It Gets More Expensive; Devs Explain
The developers of Factorio will soon raise the price of their game on Steam due to rampant inflation. Until then, you can buy it for $30 or try the free demo.
Rising inflation is forcing the industry to raise prices not only of electronic equipment, but also of already released games. Factorio, having been released 2 years ago, will soon be $5 more expensive... unless you buy it now, with a price that does not take into account the planned increase.
Factorio falls victim to inflation
The information appeared on on Twitter.
Factorio was developed by Czech studio Wube Software. In the country the average annual inflation rate in 2022 amounted to 15.1%. The price, on the other hand, will increase by 16.6%, so the change can be considered adequate. Nevertheless, the move has stirred up a lot of excitement - just take a peek at the comments under the post on Twitter.
Currently Factorio costs $30 on Steam, while after the increase the price will rise to $35 (the price is the same on GOG).
Recall that the game was funded on Kickstarter in 2013 - the developers raised 22,000 euros at the time. For the release in early access we waited three years. In 2016, the game costed $20 (via: steampricehistory). It wasn't until 2018 that the global price was raised to $30, and it will remain at that level until next Thursday. If you are not convinced to buy, you can play the demo version on Steam.
Factorio - essential info
Factorio is a top-down economic strategy game. In the game we are engaged in the expansion and management of an automated factory, located on a dangerous alien planet. Our task is to acquire valuable resources, optimize the production process, as well as defend against local fauna. The title can be played solo or over the Internet (in co-op or competitive modes).
Factorio enjoys great popularity and great reviews - within six years the game sold more than 3.5 million copies, and the reviews on Steam are positive in 97% of cases (a total of as many as 126 thousand opinions have been issued). The title left early access in 2020, but despite this it is still being developed and expanded.
