Making an action movie with an all-star cast will not automatically make it a success. The makers of Expend4bles have found just that out.
What is the simple recipe for a successful action movie? It might seem that gathering the biggest stars of the genre and packing them into one production, filled to the brim with references to their iconic roles, would be enough. Of a similar opinion were the makers of Expend4bles, however, too much is wasn't good in this case.
Unfortunately, it turns out that the recipe for creating a successful action movie does not always succeed. Expend4bles is a good proof, as it can safely be considered one of the biggest failures of 2023.
After all, how else to call a show that boasted a budget of $100 million, and no one really knows where all this money went. The whole thing looks extremely kitschy, and the use of special effects in Expend4bles could easily compete for the title of the the worst in history.
Of course, as you can easily guess, the quality translated into a disastrous result in the box office. It's been almost two weeks since the movie's release, and during that time it managed to earn only $36 million, which is an extremely poor result.
Expend4bles was also crushed by critics, who gave the Scott Waugh's movie very low ratings. On Rotten Tomatoes the movie can "boast" only 13% positive reviews.
At the same time Expend4bles is another example of the fact that critics' ratings do not always go hand in hand with those awarded by viewers. On the aforementioned Rotten Tomatoes fans rated the movie at 71%, a surprisingly high score.
If you want to see for yourself how the stars of the action flicks of your childhood probably meet on screen for the last time, we remind you that Expend4bles can still be watched in theaters.
