Another Paradox Interactive Game Gets Subscription

Paradox Interactive continues to develop a subscription model for its games. As of today, this service is available for Europa Universalis IV.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Europa Universalis IV received a subscription option;
  • The service includes the game with all expansions;
  • The subscription costs 4.99 euro per month.

Exactly a month ago we informed about the introduction of a subscription option for Crusader Kings 2. Now such option will also appear in studio's another strategy game, namely Europa Universalis IV. The players who want to start their adventure with the title without spending a fortune on any DLC, can purchase access to the title for 4.99 euros per month. The service includes the base game and all DLCs that have been published since the release. This includes 14 major expansions, 9 packs of additional content and numerous smaller expansions.

In the future, further DLCs will launch in the subscription. The players waiting for the Leviathan expansion will be able to play it not only through direct purchase, but also a monthly fee. However, the service will be available only for Steam users on Windows. The introduction of the subscription model does not mean the departure from traditional distribution. The players who prefer to purchase the game to have it forever, still have this option. Paradox Interactive's actions show, however, that the model of paying monthly for access to games is becoming more profitable for both players and developers. Some of the newer titles of Swedish developers are also available in Xbox Game Pass.
