ESO Will Get A Free PS5 and XSX Upgrade
The Console Enhanced edition of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online has been announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will bring numerous visual improvements and faster load times, and will be available for free to ESO owners on older consoles.
- Dedicated enhanced versions for XSX and PS5 will be released on June 8, 2021;
- They will be available as a free upgrade for owners of the XONE and PS4 editions;
- Will offer improved graphics, faster load times and a choice of either 60 fps or 4K resolution.
ZeniMax Online Studios announced dedicated Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. Owners of these platforms can already play the game through backwards compatibility, but the dedicated edition will offer many of the improvements made possible by the power of next-gen.
The next-gen version is called Console Enhanced edition and will be released on June 8 this year. It will be available for free for those who bought ESO on PS4 and Xbox One. It will offer two graphic modes. In Performance Mode we'll get 60 fps, while in Fidelity Mode we'll be able to play in 4K, but only at 30 fps.
Next-gen version of the game will also bring many graphical improvements. The engine will render objects at twice the distance of the player character, enabling us to see much further. We'll get nicer shadows (including improved ambient occlusions) and reflections, higher resolution textures, and more advanced depth of field and anti-aliasing effects, as well as improved lighting. In addition, load times are expected to be half the time needed on XONE and PS4.
It is worth noting that the announcement of the Console Enhanced edition is not the only attraction that the devs have prepared for players. ESO has just received a new free adventure called Blackwood Prologue, designed as a prelude to the annual Gates of Oblivion event, which will offer a single overarching story told through expansions and updates.
In addition, a free trial period has just launched in The Elder Scrolls Online, which will run until April 13, so we have plenty of time to check out the game without paying. Both console and PC gamers as well as Google Stadia users can take part in the fun.
