Elden Ring's Great Achievement Accompanied by Thanks and DLC Requests
Elden Ring sales are not slowing down. The title has done better than The Witcher 3 at the same time a year after its release. Players are celebrating with the developers and asking for the announcement of a DLC for the game.
Best game of 2022 according to The Game Awards, Elden Ring, has just hit more than 20 million buyers, setting a new sales record for a single title in the history of FromSoftware. A message announcing the superb sales was shared on Twitter.
It is worth noting that the title debuted on the market on February 25, 2022, almost a year ago. Achieving such high sales in such a short period of time is awe-inspiring, even more so if we compare the result to the success of other well-known brands. Elden Ring found as many buyers as the entire Witcher series in a year after release. The title also sold better than any installment of the Dark Souls series, although breaking the sales record of 27 million units, achieved by the entire DS series (as of 2020), is probably still far away.
It's worth noting that the title of best-selling game within the first year of release (not counting games in early access, such as PUPG) invariably belongs to Grand Theft Auto V - the one on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles alone has distributed in a circulation of 34 million units. Elden Ring however, is a new brand, without a long history like the GTA series. In addition, the game represents the genre of soulslike, which is characterized by a high level of difficulty, which no doubt may have scared off many potential buyers.
Numerous thanks and requests for DLC
In the comments section under the post from the developers there was no shortage of expressions of appreciation and strenuous requests from players for the announcement of a DLC. Here are some selected comments.
"If you (the developers) were really grateful, you would announce DLC," notes Ratatoskr
"Thanks for everything. I give Miyazaki (the game's director) my soul," wrote scumnut
"Where is the DLC? I've completed this game about 11 times," demands All Hail Humanity
