Elden Ring Sold Over 12 Million Copies in Just 3 Weeks

Elden Ring does not cease to amaze. The developers boasted that they managed to sell over 12 million copies of the game in less than three weeks after its release.

We knew that Elden Ring was a huge success, but only now have we learned its actual scale. Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and studio FromSoftware boasted that sales of the game exceeded 12 million copies. One million copies in Japan alone.

This result includes digital distribution and boxed sales, counting from the day of release (February 25) to March 14. This is an impressive result, especially since it was achieved in less than three weeks.

For comparison - FromSoftware's biggest hit to date was Dark Souls III, which took four years to cross the threshold of 10 million copies sold. In turn, the team's previous game, namely Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice could achieve only 2 million purchasers in three weeks.

Unfortunately, it was not given how these 12 million copies are distributed among different hardware platforms. We have only partial data at our disposal. We know that in the European Union 44% of the purchased copies of Elden Ring were bought on PC. In second place is the PS5 (27%), followed by Xbox (16%) and PlayStation 4 (13%).

In the European Union Elden Ring was also the best new brand debut since the release of Tom Clancy's The Division in 2016.
