Leak Suggests Elden Ring Only in 2022
Everything seems to indicate that we'll wait a little longer than expected for the next title from the talented team at FromSoftware, i.e. Elden Ring. The game will be released in April 2022 at the earliest.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Elden Ring is unlikely to be released before April 2022;
- This is indicated by low revenue expectations for the current financial year.
Kadokawa Corp, the owner of FromSoftware, the developer of Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, hinted in a financial report that the release of the developer's upcoming game is likely to be delayed due to the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. The game in question is the RPG Elden Ring, which, according to the document, may not be released until April 2022 at the earliest, as indicated by revenue projections for the fiscal year ending in March 2021 . Niko Partners' Daniel Ahmad also addressed the matter.
In fact, it's not very unexpected news if we consider how little we still know about the game in question. We didn't even get any substantial gameplay footage. We also know that the presentation of the game may have been delayed in connection with the recent leak.
We remind that Elden Ring was announced in June 2019. Previously, the web was abuzz with the fact that the Japanese studio hired the author of the novel series A Song of Ice and Fire (which lived to see a TV adaptation in the form of Game of Thrones), George R.R. Martin, as a consultant.
