Leak: Elden Ring Trailer Shows First Gameplay Footage
Elden Ring still remains a closely guarded secret. However, a recent leak brought with it alleged trailer snippets, which gave us the first gameplay footage of From Software's new game.
The announcement of Elden Ring is, for many, a memory as pleasant as it is painful. Reveal of From Software's new game, co-created with the devs of A Song of Ice and Fire, caused euphoria among fans of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and other works of Hidetaka Miyazaki's team. Unfortunately, later on the devs stopped provide new details. Suffice it to say that as of June 2019, we still have not seen any, even a few seconds of gameplay footage.
As is usually the case with the silence of the devs, fans have no choice but to wait patiently or count on unofficial information. Usually, they do not arouse more enthusiasm than any other rumor from 4chan, but the last leak electrified the fans. The net is full of long-awaited gameplay footage from Elden Ring. Unfortunately for the players, the materials are of extremely poor quality - on some of them, you can see absolutely nothing. Nevertheless, thanks to this we saw, among others, riding a horse and fighting a dragon.
One of the people posting these materials is Dusk Golem, known from many confirmed leaks. Although the Internet user emphasized that the videos do not come from him, the fact that he decided to publish them on his Twitter shows his confidence in these materials. It is difficult to doubt their credibility. Fake information or even visual materials are one thing, but the creation of whole gameplay footage from scratch is another, much more difficult task. Of course, we recommend treating these and other "leaks" with a fair amount of caution until we have official information.
The trailer started making rounds on social media forums, as Video Games Chronicle found out. The footage was supposed to be strictly confidential, and showing it would result in Bandai Namco (publisher of Elden Ring) taking legal action. However, this apparently did not deter the source from sharing the trailer (or at least parts of it) with the world.
The very existence of the video suggests an imminent presentation of Elden Ring. Just yesterday Bloomberg's Jason Schreier claimed that there are solid grounds for expecting the presentation of From Software's new game in the near future. Even before that, Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat dropped similar comments as part of Friday's podcast. Presumably both journalists were referring to the trailer in question, which Schreier admitted on Twitter. Unfortunately, he also mentioned that Elden Ring has suffered significant delays, which is hardly surprising in the context of the ongoing pandemic. That said, the release of a gameplay trailer in - hopefully - the coming days or weeks is still much more than we've received in the 20 months since the game was announced at E3 2019.
