Elden Ring - Brandon Sanderson Wants to Work With Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has sent a package to Brandon Sanderson, related to Elden Ring. According to the attached message, the company is interested in working with the famous writer.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Writer Brandon Sanderson received a package with gadgets from Elden Ring from Bandai Namco;
  2. In a letter included in the package, the publisher expressed a desire to create something together with the author;
  3. Sanderson admitted that he already has an idea and is willing to share it with the Japanese company.

Brandon Sanderson - a popular American fantasy writer - can boast of having an excellent time lately. The author of such popular series as Born of the Mist or Stormlight Archive, as well as co-author of The Wheel of Time (after the death of Robert Jordan he took on the task of finishing his series of novels) was a huge success on Kickstarter. He raised more than $41 million to publish four mysterious novels, on which he began work after the outbreak of the pandemic. Thus, his project became the biggest financial success in the history of the platform.

It is possible that it will also enable him to make a name for himself in the gaming world, because Brandon Sanderson has just drawn the attention of Bandai Namco, the publisher of such titles as Elden Ring or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The writer received a package with gadgets and a mysterious letter from the company.

Brandon Sanderson has an idea for a soulsborne game

The author opened the package during a broadcast from March 30. He admitted that after Bandai Namco representatives asked him for his address, he was expecting a free copy of Elden Ring. Instead, however, he received a map, a painting made of wood, a cape, a sword, and a letter.

The publisher expressed a desire to create something together with the writer, which Sanderson eagerly agreed to. He admitted that he already had an idea in mind and would be happy to send his proposal.

"I always have an idea for something. That's the problem. For example: 'If I were ever to make a soulsborne game, what would I do?' You know what happened when I thought: 'what would I do if I ever wrote the story for Magic: The Gathering?'

I spent four years creating the story of Magic: The Gathering, so when they contacted me and said: 'Hey, do you want to write a story?' I could have said 'Yes, I already have it and I'm going to write it!'. And so I did.

In the same way I thought: 'What would I do if I were in charge of a soulsborne game?' Of course, that's not for me to decide, right? But I have it in the back of my head, so maybe you'll hear something from me. I have some ideas... I always have ideas."

In January this year, Brandon complained that he should be the author of Elden Ring's plot. The writer was bitter about the choice of George R.R. Martin, stressing that he is in no way associated with video games. Unlike the interested party himself, who for decades has been a fan of games created by FromSoftware. Perhaps soon he will get a chance to create something together with his idols.

Interestingly, Sanderson claims to have been working with a 'well-known studio' on a video game for several years. Yet we still haven't seen any official announcements.
