EA's 2021 Summary
Electronic Arts has released a summary of 2021, featuring stats on EA's biggest titles.
As the year 2021 draws to a close Eletronic Arts has released a recap of the past few months, including stats on major games. Electronic Arts 2021: Year in Gaming reveals how people played, what their favorite activities were, and how they experienced the titles they played.
The company was pleased to announce that EA's global community has grown even more. Unfortunately, this is not followed by solid numbers, so we do not know how many new players have played the titles of the giant. What we do know is where they come from:
Apex Legends and FIFA
EA's most popular brands in 2021 were Apex Legends and FIFA. In Apex players have posted more than 322 billion pings, used the zipline more than 24 billion times and used 12 billion jump pads. In FIFA 21, players around the world have scored 22 billion goals and played nearly 10 billion exciting matches.
The Sims 4
Fans of The Sims 4 have spent more than one billion hours playing the game. During that time, they created more than 376 million sims, which is more than the population of the United States. It is quite surprising that a game released in 2014 is still getting such substantial results seven years after its release. This is mainly due to the successive expansion that offer players new opportunities in this virtual life simulator.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
The remastered Mass Effect trilogy was also a huge success in 2021. As many as 68% of players embarked on their adventure with the male version of Commander Shepard, but only 23% of fans chose the default name of the hero.
EA's summary also mentioned other profitable games. Star Wars Squadrons and other sports games of the studio such as Madden NFL 22, UFC 4 and NHL 22 appeared in the summary, but Battlefield 2042, which came out in November this year, is missing. Electronic Arts justifies that they did not have enough data from November for this title to be included in the list. What we do know is that this year's installment in this well-known series isn't doing too well, as evidenced by the free weekend that was recently announced.
