EA to Expand the Mass Effect Series After the Success of Legendary Edition
Electronic Arts has reported that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has sold even better than the publisher's projections.
During the recent investor call, Electronic Arts boasted, that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition sold well above expectations. Unfortunately, the publisher did not share specific numbers.
EA's CEO Andrew Wilson, however, did not hide his satisfaction with the results, announcing that he managed to reignite the popularity of the franchise around the world. Wilson assured that Electronic Arts intends to continue investing in its development. This bodes well for the upcoming new installment of the series. Released in 2017, Mass Effect: Andromeda severely damaged the reputation of the series, but as you can see, it did not kill the series in the eyes of fans.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is a set containing refreshed versions of the first three installments of RPG series by BioWare. The set debuted in May this year on PC, PlayStaton 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The new edition turned out to be a real hit. In the week of its release Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was the biggest bestseller on Steam. At the hottest moment of the first weekend, 59,817 users played the game on Valve's website, which is the best result in the history of BioWare and the second highest for a game released by Electronic Arts (after Apex Legends).
The set not only sold very well, but was also warmly received by players. On Steam 91% of all user reviews are positive, and counting only the reviews from the last 30 days we get the result of 95%.
The successful launch of the remastered trilogy prepared the ground for the upcoming sequel. Unfortunately, we still don't know when we can expect the new Mass Effect..
