EA Plans - New Games From Criterion, DICE, BioWare and More

Electronic Arts has shared its plans for the future. These are ambitious, including the release of new works from Criterion Games, DICE, BioWare, Motive and Maxis, unannounced productions from EA Sports, and the continuation of EA Originals program.

During a press conference on the results achieved in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2020, Electronic Arts shared its plans for the future with its participants. According to Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, the company plans to release a number of new projects from its in-house teams, as well as a continuation of EA Originals, which helps independent developers to bring their work to market. Let's take a closer look at Ahmad's tweet and try to predict what EA has in store for us.

The first place on the above list is occupied by the new project from Motive. The team, which recently co-created Star Wars: Battlefront II, and also took over from Visceral Games another production set in the universe of Star Wars (which was eventually cancelled), is to provide us with a representative of a completely new IP. At the moment it is difficult to say what the title will be, but considering Motive's achievements so far, we can assume that we will receive a new "action-packed" title.

The DICE, BioWare, Maxis and Criterion teams also have their hands full. While in the case of DICE and BioWare everything seems to be clear (the first of the aforementioned teams probably creates a new Battlefield or Battlefront, the second one is currently working on Dragon Age IV, which was announced at the end of last year), in the case of the latter two teams the matter does not seem so obvious. Who knows, maybe Maxis was given green light to try to come back in glory with a new part of the SimCity series? On the other hand, the studio can also be working on the fifth installment of The Sims series. As far as Criterion is concerned, in recent years the team that has made a name for itself in the history of video games with the Burnout series has been downgraded by EA to the role of a kind of helper for other teams. Lovers of fast races and spectacular crashes would probably welcome a new Burnout, and hopefully both Criterion Games and the "brass" are well aware of that.

DICE is still developing Battlefield V and Star Wars: Battlefront II; however, the team is also working on a new project.

Finally, mobile titles, sports games and new indies. As far as the former are concerned - apparently games from EA are doing well on smartphones and tablets, so the company announces new productions of this type. The same can be said about games created by EA Sports. The following parts of the FIFA, NHL and Madden NFL series are certain, which, as Ahmad writes, are not included in "new titles". But then there's the EA Sports UFC series. Its new installments were released every two years, so it is very likely that next year we will see the announcements of EA Sports UFC 4. As for the EA Originals, it's worth reminding that the next game of Hazelight, the creators of the bestselling A Way Out will be the next project from the program.
