EA Limits its Presence on GDC Due to Coronavirus
Electronic Arts informed their employees that it would limit their presence at GDC 2020 and warned them not to go to the fair. The source of information is a LinkeIn post of one of the people employed in the company.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- EA limits its presence at GDC 2020 and warns employees not to go to the fair;
- the situation is related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
It seems that Electronic Arts will join the group of companies that will either limit their participation in this year's edition of Game Developers Conference (GDC) or give it up completely. The information was included in the post of one of the employees of the company - Alex Sherer - on LinkedIn. The reason is the threat from the COVID-19 coronavirus. EA also warns its employees not to go to San Francisco.
"Hello all, Just received word from corporate, and EA will be limiting our presence at GDC, cancelling our participation in official GDC events, and all EA employees have been advised to not travel to San Francisco for the conference," we read in the post.
The list of companies that resigned from participating in the event is growing - currently it includes such entities as Kojima Productions, Sony or Facebook. The situation is developing and it cannot even be ruled out that the fair will be completely cancelled - as happened with another industry event, MWC 2020.
