E3 2019 Expo Microsoft Conference Summary
The Microsoft conference lasted almost an hour and a half. During the show 60 new titles were presented and showcased for players worldwide. We have gathered a summary of the most important news in this article.
After yesterday's EA Play another important event preceding this year's E3 2019 Expo was the Microsoft conference. During the show, which was run by Phil Spencer, 16 exclusive titles were presented, as well as many multiplatform productions; a total of 60 games have been shown. We also learned more about Project Scarlett, which is the next-generation console by Microsoft. The individual titles and moments of the conference have been discussed below.
The Outer Worlds
The event began with the presentation of the climatic trailer of The Outer Worlds. Obsidian Entertainment outlined the game's story background and showed players the picturesque locations awaiting their visit, dynamic clashes with opponents and the opportunities offered by this title. During the adventure it will be possible to act in accordance with generally accepted ethical standards... or not. The title will debut on October 25, 2019. On the day of its launch it will be added to the list of games available within the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Bleeding Edge
Then we got confirmation of the recent leaks. Ninja Theory is working on Bleeding Edge, a multiplayer action game, whose main feature are battles in 4-player teams. The gameplay is likely to be dynamic, and the cartoonish style that resembles Overwatch might appeal to the gamers. The launch is preceded by alpha tests, which will begin on June 27.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
The third game presented at the conference of the Redmond giant was Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The title will debut in the Xbox Game Pass service on February 11 2020, and the atmospheric trailer focused on presenting a duel with an overgrown spider.
Minecraft: Dungeons
Minecraft: Dungeons, will also be available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription from day one; the launch will take place in spring 2020. Players can see how Mojang Studio imagines exploring the dark dungeons together, acquiring new equipment and fighting hordes of enemies. Of course, all this is preserved in the famous original cartoonish style of Minecraft.
Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order
It was only after this presentation that Phil Spencer appeared and prepared the audience for a show that just was starting for good. Then there was nothing else to do but to continue the show - a spectacular trailer of Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order, which we could see for the first time at this year's EA Play, was shown on the stage.
Blair Witch
What came later? Later we saw a disturbing video footage of Blair Witch from the Polish developer Bloober Team. A dark forest looking like a nightmare, opponents that may frighten you to death, and a camera recording everything that is happening to the main character... it seems that in Blair Witch we will find everything we associate with this franchise.
Cyberpunk 2077
Many players waited for a year or even more for this moment of conference. The Redmond giant showed the world a new cinematic teaser of Cyberpunk 2077. This time, Polish developers presented Night City in the version that many would like to see it in, entangled in darkness and illuminated only by neon lights, in the streets of which crime rules. And now the best - Keanu Reeves will take important part as an NPC in the game's story; he entered the stage and announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will debut on April 16, 2020.
Spiritfarer
After a dynamic presentation, it was time for a slightly calmer title. We talk about Spiritfarer, in which we observe the action from the side view (platformer). We will lead an idyllic (but not as much as we would like) life of a young and adventurous boy. The title will be available on the day of its release as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Battletoads
After that, Microsoft went on to show Battletoads, announced last year...
The Legend of Wright
... and presentations of smaller titles. It was started with The Legend of Wright, whose graphics consists of paper cut elements. But don't let the visual layer deceive you, because during the game we will experience memorable adventures and fight with terrifying (well, maybe not entirely) opponents.
ID@Xbox
Then, other "small" indie games entered the stage, all of them featured in the Xbox Game Pass subscription. Afterparty, The Good Life, Creature in the Well, Felix the Reaper, Night Call - these are just some of the indie games covered by the ID@Xbox program.
Xbox Game Pass
Metro Exodus, Batman: Arkham Knight, Hollow Knight, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - these are the titles that joined the console offer of Xbox Game Pass. As for the PC equivalent - as we have already reported, the subscription was launched on PC, and there are over a hundred productions available, which at the time of release will be joined by Gears 5. This is complemented by the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which now includes the console and PC Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Then the Redmond giant presented the capabilities of its AI baptized as Azure, whose use in combination with satellite images resulted in the creation of a new Microsoft Flight Simulator. The game has almost photorealistic graphics, which previously we could only dream of. However, see for yourself.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
If you've missed Age of Empires, you'll be happy to know that Microsoft showed us Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The title will debut in winter and we may play it on PCs.
Wasteland 3
Then, we were able to finally see the action game Wasteland 3 developed by inXile Entertainment. In a funny video many features of the game have been presented, such as cold locations, battles with opponents and weapons.
Double Fine joins Microsoft
Time for little shopping by Microsoft. Double Fine Productions, whose "head", i.e. Tim Schafer, showed the world a new trailer for Psychonauts 2, joined Microsoft's studios.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Later on, we saw the announcement of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which will tell us about the events from all nine films of the Star Wars franchise. The title will debut in 2020.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
Do you still remember the announcement of an action RPG set in the Dragon Ball universe? Then you will certainly be pleased to know that it was at the Microsoft conference that the dynamic trailer of this production was shown, filled with gameplay scenes. The game is called Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and its release will take place at the beginning of 2020.
12 Minutes
Next a trailer of 12 Minutes was presented on the stage; the game itself is known as an interactive thriller. In the game we'll play the hero trapped in a time loop.
Way to the Woods
Then it got even weirder as we saw the fresh trailer of Way to the Woods, where we take control of a young animal trying to find its way home.
Gears 5
Apparently, the Redmond giant has decided to mix the quieter productions with those that will make the players' hearts beat faster, because after Way to the Woods we could see the psychedelic trailer of Gears 5. The video material is not particularly dynamic, although it seems that the main character of this production is not going to be all right. When Rod Fergusson, who was responsible for the production of the project, appeared on stage, we got to know the date of its release.
The game will debut on September 5, but Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to check it out earlier. Additionally, this summer you will be able to check its multiplayer mode. The devs tried to invent a new variant of the game, i.e. the co-op Escape, which is a "new way to fight the Locust". Then the devs had no choice but to show the players the aforementioned premise in a "movie" trailer and a fragment of gameplay.
Elite Controller Series 2
Microsoft has made its elite controller... even more elite. It was designed from scratch, allowing it to be adapted even more widely to its preferences, improving what was not entirely successful in its predecessor (battery) and making it even more ergonomic.
Dying Light 2
Another game, which appeared at the conference of the Redmond giant, was Dying Light 2 from Techland. The trailer, on which the action was shown from the eyes of the hero, focused on presenting the spectrum of possibilities that the player will have at their disposal. In short, it's their actions that will determine what life in the post-apocalyptic city will look like. The launch of the game is expected in the spring of 2020.
Forza Horizon 4
Forza Horizon 4 received its "five minutes" and this week will see a big expansion with LEGO Speed Champions. We will be driving on tracks made of LEGO blocks, driving... cars made of LEGO blocks, playing the role of... LEGO-humans.
Gears POP!
If you've forgotten about Gears POP!, you might remember it after a ridiculous trailer encouraging you to check it out. The title will be available on mobile devices with iOS and Android systems.
State of Decay 2: Heartland
State of Decay 2 is non the worse than Forza Horizon 4 will also receive an expansion pack - an add-on entitled Heartland, which will present two new heroes fighting for survival in a world dominated by "walking dead" and facing previously unseen threats. The add-on is already waiting to be tested.
Phantasy Star Online 2
Then we received an announcement of Phantasy Star Online 2, which will get a release on Xbox One with all the expansions. The title will be available in a free-to-play model with microtransactions in spring 2020.
Crossfire X
Crossfire X is a new game by Smilegate, which will enjoy Xbox One exclusiveness for a limited time. The spectacular trailer of this shooter focused on showing the fast action and dynamic battles with the opponents. Game will debut in the spring of 2020.
Tales of Arise
We got confirmation of another leak. Bandai Namco Entertainment showed the world the game entitled Tales of Arise, about the existence of which we informed you a few days ago. The title, which will debut in 2020, will boast beautiful graphics in a manga & anime style. However, see for yourself.
Borderlands 3
Borderlands 3 is heading to the Xbox One. This time the Gearbox Software team focused on presenting the main characters and story, touching it with spectacular scenes of duels with hordes of adversaries. In addition, the existence of DLC to Borderlands 2, or Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, was confirmed.
Elden Ring
Elden Ring a new game by From Software studio, which also employs George R. R. Martin, has got its official announcement. This time we received a longer trailer than in the case of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. However, we haven't been able to see any gameplay footage yet, but only the cinematic (though atmospheric) trailer.
Project xCloud and Project Scarlett
Then the "technical" and more hardware part of the Microsoft conference began. The Redmond giant is ready to release Project xCloud to a wide range of audiences. The system will allow us to make our console a "personal server" and stream games directly. After announcing this functionality, Phil Spencer went through to the announcement of the new Xbox. Just like Sony, the company will focus on reducing the game' loading times. The heart of Xbox Scarlett will be AMD Ryzen CPU based on Navi technology, which will be four times as powerful as its Xbox One X counterpart. In addition, the manufacturers will include an SSD in their device, as will their Japanese competitors. The console is codenamed Project Scarlett and while Scorpio, which eventually became Xbox One X, was called a "monster", it is supposed to "eat monsters for breakfast".
The device will debut in the Christmas period of 2020, and itslaunch is to be accompanied by...
Halo Infinite
This brings us to the presentation of the last game that received a new trailer at the Microsoft conference. Of course, the star of the video material announcing Halo Infinite was Master Chief himself, who, despite some problems, apparently still has it in him. Apparently, Cortana, his faithful companion, will also return.
