E3 2019 Expo Bethesda Conference Summary
Bethesda once again organized a conference, which preceded the beginning of the E3 fair. During this year's event, several new titles were presented, as well as information on upcoming games, such as Doom Eternal, and further support for the publisher's already published productions was announced.
After Friday's EA Play event and Microsoft's conference, another major event preceding this year's E3 2019 fair belonged to Bethesda and its hour and a half long presentation. After the last severe PR failures related mainly to Fallout 76, which seriously damaged the fans' trust, Bethesda faced a big challenge this year. In the presented promotional materials, the company tried to warm up its image, showing the faces and statements of developers working for it and various representatives of the gaming community. Fortunately, the publisher did not limit itself only to this, announcing several intriguing titles and presenting long-awaited information about already released and upcoming productions.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades
At the very beginning of the event, the developers from Bethesda presented new information about the mobile The Elder Scrolls: Blades, which has been in the open beta phase for several months now. Soon the production will get another large update, numberer 1.1., introducing numerous changes to the game. The creators have also announced the game's port for the Nintendo Switch console, which should be released this fall. Like its counterpart on smartphones, the production will be free-to-play.
Fallout 76
Then the developers of Fallout 76 appeared on stage, and presented plans for further support of the troubled game. It turns out that there is a whole bunch of completely free expansions waiting for the players. The first of them will be Wastelanders, which will not only introduce a new storyline, but also add first human NPCs to the post-apocalyptic world. With the expantion, the game will be expanded by a new mode called Nuclear Winter, which is a variation on the popular battle royale and offers fun for up to 52 people at the same time.
GhostWire: Tokyo
GhostWire: Tokyo is the first big release announced during the event. It is an action adventure game with elements of horror, produced by Japanese team at Tango Gameworks, directed by legendary Japanese creator Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil series, The Evil Within, Vanquish).
The Elder Scrolls Online
Bethesda doesn't forget about itsThe Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG. The studio showed a new cinematic trailer of a big expansion called The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr. Two smaller DLCs - Dragonhold and Scalebreaker - have also been announced.
The Elder Scrolls Legends
During the conference, the publisher again confirmed its interest in the further development of The Elder Scrolls Legends, which was released in 2017. The stage not only presented a spectacular live action trailer of the title, encouraging people to play on their mobile devices, but also confirmed the existence of its new expansion entitled Moons of Elsweyr, which will be released at the end of this month.
Commander Keen
The legendary PC platformer Commander Keen, originally created in the 1990s by id Software, was completely unexpectedly resurrected. The production will introduce two new heroes - Billy and Billie Blaze, who will experience fantastic adventures on iOS and Android mobile devices.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
During the presentation there was a new gameplay from the Wolfenstein spin-off series, debuting at the end of July, allowing us to play as the daughters of B. J. Blazkowicz, who fight the Nazis on a special mission in Paris. Wolfenstein Cyberpilot, an action game for VR devices, was also shown.
RAGE 2
Fans of the shooter RAGE 2 released in mid-May will see more attractions. Avalanche and id Software studios have presented free updates next month, as well as the story expansion Rise of the Ghosts, which is due to be released later this year.
Deathloop
Deathloop is the second big title announced during the event. This intriguing FPS is supervised by Arkane (Prey, the Dishonored series). Details about the game remain a complete mystery for the time being, as the developers only showed us an animated cinematic trailer. We learn from it that the protagonists of the production are a pair of assassins trapped in an endless battle to death in a time loop; while one of the tries to get out, other does everything in her power to stop him.
Orion
Game Streaming is one of the most popular industry topics of the year. Representatives of id Software, known for its groundbreaking technologies, talked about Orion on stage. It is a suite of applications and patented IT solutions designed to speed up the streaming of games, which is aimed at the owners of platforms such as Google Stadia. Developers mention, among other things, the reduction of the load on Internet connections and a 20% increase in data transmission efficiency.
Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal's presentation was certainly the biggest attraction of the conference. We finally found out the exact launch date of the game on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It was scheduled for November 22, this year. We also saw an interesting gameplay fragment and a trailer presenting new opponents and various locations that the title will offer. Also announced was a 3-person multiplayer mode called Battlemode. As you play, one player will play the armed Doom Slayer and the rest, as the demons, will try to stop him.
In the next few days we should expect more information about Doom Eternal and other upcoming Bethesda titles. Many of them are available in the form of playable demos at E3 2019.
