E3 2016 Essential #2 (June 13) – State of Decay 2, Watch Dogs 2, Detroit: Become Human
Here are the essential game news from E3 day 2 (June 13), revealed during Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Sony briefings and the PC Gaming Show.
This was probably the most exciting day of this year’s E3. We've watched the E3 press conferences of three major publishers – Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Sony – plus the PC Gaming Show, not to mention a number of smaller announcements. Here’s the hottest news of June 13, 2016.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 and Sniper Elite 4 not out until 2017
Starting off with not-so-good news for snipers. CI Games decided to push back the release of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. The next installment in the first-person shooter series is scheduled for January 27, 2017. Even later comes Rebellion’s Sniper Elite 4, which is to be out worldwide on February 14, 2017
Xbox Play Anywhere program and Project Scorpio announced
Today, Microsoft revealed Xbox Play Anywhere, a program that aims to integrate some of the publisher’s games available both on Xbox One and Windows 10 (cross-buy and cross-play). One of the first games to use this functionality will be Gears of War 4 (other titles confirmed are: Forza Horizon 3, Scalebound, Tekken 7, Dead Rising 4, Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3).
Another huge revelation from Microsoft was Project Scorpio, a powerful new version of XONE with 4K and VR support, planned for Christmas 2017. By the way, you may also want to check out the newly announced Xbox One S.
Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is being developed alongside Serious Sam 4
Devolver Digital revealed that Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope – a VR-based spin-off to the popular franchise – is coming out this summer. Croteam assured fans that this is just a side project, and they are busy working on Serious Sam 4.
We Happy Few new trailer and release date
Microsoft revealed that We Happy Few, the intriguing FPP adventure game from the developers of Contrast, is going to launch on July 27, 2016. Here’s a new gameplay footage:
Sea of Thieves gameplay revealed
After a year of silence, Rare shared a new trailer and gameplay video from the online pirate simulator Sea of Thieves coming for PC and XONE.
State of Decay 2 announced
The sequel to State of Decay has been officially announced. The next installment in the popular open-world zombie survival is going to feature co-op multiplayer in addition to single player campaign. We can expect to play State of Decay 2 on PC and XONE some time next year.
Inside coming out soon
Limbo dev’s next game – Inside – is going to launch on June 29 for XONE and on July 7 for PC. If you happen to have missed out on PlayDead’s debut title, Limbo is currently available free of charge for XONE users – a similar offer will be up on Steam on June 21 and 22.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game confirmed
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a real thing – the game has been officially confirmed for PC, XONE, and PS4. Interestingly, the expansive multiplayer will be accompanied by a story-driven single player campaign with choices and consequences.
Giant Cop: Justice Above All announced for Oculus Rift
Ever wondered how it would feel like to be a giant cop protecting a small-town community from criminals? Giant Cop: Justice Above All will give you the chance to find out. The humorous game should be out this summer for Oculus Rift.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord siege gameplay video
During PC Gaming Show TaleWorlds presented a new Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord gameplay. The video shows an assault on a stronghold, featuring siege engines and destruction system.
LawBreakers to be alpha tested this weekend

Killing Floor: Incursion is being developed for Oculus VR
Tripwire Interactive are collaborating with Oculus to bring us Killing Floor: Incursion, an FPS specifically designed for the VR headset as well as Oculus Touch.
Tyranny new story trailer
Not much news on Obsidian’s Tyranny this time, but here’s a new story trailer with bits of gameplay footage.
Observer is a new horror game from the devs of Layers of Fear
Polish developer Bloober Team, who previously created Layers of Fear, have announced their new project. Observer is a cyberpunk FPP horror game that will let you hack human minds.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III
Relic Entertainment briefly showcased gameplay from Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III during PC Gaming Show. A longer video material from the upcoming strategy game will be released on June 24.
Raiders of the Broken Planet new trailer
MercurySteam, creators of the Castlevania series, have showed off a trailer of their new project – Raiders of the Broken Planet. This asymmetrical online game will be beta tested on PC soon.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands new videos
Ubisoft showcased three nice pieces of video material from their war-on-drugs-open-world action game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands. These are the two trailers and a gameplay footage showing a search-and-capture mission.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole gameplay showcased
The creators of the original South Park animated series, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, showed up on stage during Ubisoft’s confrerence to talk about South Park: The Fractured But Whole and present new videos from the game. The title will be out for PC, PS4, and XONE on December 6, 2016.
For Honor single player reveal
The same time last year Ubisoft revealed their new IP For Honor – online melee action game – this time they showed off its single player campaign. Here’s a new story trailer and a gameplay video featuring Vikings storming an Oriental stronghold.
Grow Home dev announces Grow Up
Grow Up is a newly announced Grow Home follow-up, which is going to be available on PC, XONE, and PS4 in August 2016.
Watch Dogs 2 gameplay presentation
As expected, Ubisoft’s E3 briefing saw a lengthy presentation of Watch Dogs 2, showing off one of the in-game missions and a new trailer. Ubisoft also announced that a feature film Watch Dogs is planned.
Steep is Ubisoft’s new IP
As they usually do, at the end of their E3 media briefing Ubisoft revealed their new IP. Steep is a game about extreme sports set in the Alps. Players will get a taste of skiing down steep slopes, jumping off the cliffs, proximity flying etc. See the gameplay footage to get the gist:
The next God of War is set in the Nordic mythologhy
Sony’s E3 briefing had a strong start – announcement of God of War, the next installment in the popular hack and slash game series. This time we are going to leave the ancient Greece behind and visit a world based on the Nordic mythology. This will be a PS4 exclusive.
Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s new game starring Norman Reedus
Hideo Kojima is working on a new game, called Death Stranding. Its protagonist will be starred by Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead TV series). We hope this project will fare better than Silent Hills. There is little info about the game, but you can watch a cinematic trailer:
Resident Evil VII: Biohazard announced for consoles
The next installment in the cult survival horror series from Capcom is Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. The game will be out on PS4 and XONE consoles on January 27, 2016.
Gone Home dev’s Tacoma pushed back to 2017
Gone Home creators’ next project, Tacoma, will not be out until next year. The developer is taking the extra time to expand the game’s mechanics and enable deeper and more meaningful interactions with characters.
Detroit: Become Human new trailer features a new playable character
Sony revealed the second playable character in Quantic Dream’s Detroid: Become Human to be an android named Connor. Visit the official PlayStation blog for new info about the story of the upcoming PS4 exclusive from the creators of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss dev announces Days Gone
