Don’t expect PvP in Elden Ring Nightreign anytime soon
Many players were extremely happy about Elden Ring Nightreign announcement. A game in the beloved universe but focused on multiplayer is an interesting idea. However, lack of PvP modes was a surprise for some.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a new game from legendary FromSoftware. Once again developers decided to try something else, and they created a game focused on multiplayer. While ERN is not here yet, we had a chance to test it already. The title looks promising, with the final opinion we need to wait for the release though, as it might be a little bit too repetitive in the long run. Of course, sharing adventures with others will add a lot of randomness and replayability to the title. For many players saddening news was to hear about lack of PvP, which would add more diversity to this production. However, don’t expect it to happen anytime soon.
PvP in Elden Ring Nightreign explained
Upon hearing about Elden Ring Nightreign, a multiplayer game in the beloved universe, many players imagined a fully developed PvP mode. Sadly, this feature is not planned as of now. How do we know that? It is not a secret – game director, Junya Ishizaki, said that himself during an interview for IGN. When asked about PvP, the developer answered:
Currently there are no plans. We wanted to first and foremost concentrate on this three-player co-op experience. So that's the main focus for now.
As you can see, don’t expect combat against other players soon in Elden Ring Nightreign. Of course, we can’t exclude the possibility that at some point a PvP mode will appear as a free update or DLC. “currently there are no plans” does not mean “we will never add this feature”. So, we can hope.
Especially, if we take into consideration that developers are thinking about various ideas regarding the game. For example, we know that 2-player mode is not off the table. So, PvP does not sound impossible.
- Elden Ring: Nightreign isn't a sign that Dark Souls devs have suddenly started following trends, although it has „elements absent from any other FromSoftware game”
- I played Elden Ring spin-off: Nightreign focuses on builds, but everything can be shattered by repetitiveness
- After release, Elden Ring: Nightreign may get a mode players wanted since its announcement
