Disney and Marvel Plan to Show New Games; Schedule Revealed
The Disney and Marvel Games Showcase - a showcase of games based on the licenses of both companies - has been announced. It will be held at the D23 Expo 2022 event, and its main attraction is expected to be a game featuring MCU superheroes developd by Skydance New Media.
gamescom 2022 is just around the corner, but that's not the only game show that awaits us in the coming weeks. Yesterday, Disney and Marvel Entertainment announced their own presentation. It is called Disney and Marvel Games Showcase and will take place - digitally (including via YouTube and Twitch) and "physically" - at the D23 Expo 2022 event, specifically on September 9, 2022 at 1 pm PST. The event will be hosted by Blessing Adeoye Jr..
Disney and Marvel show - what games will we see?
What can be expected? First of all, new information about the games from studios collaborating with Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games and 20th Century Games. So we are talking about titles like Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel's Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and perhaps also Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (although this one, like Marvel's Wolverine, is likely to appear at the PlayStation Showcase, which is also planned - if a showcase is planned that is).
The main attraction
The main attraction of the event is expected to be the announcement of a game about MCU superheroes developed in collaboration with Marvel by Skydance New Media studio. It is headed by Amy Hennig, director of the first three parts of the Uncharted series and several installments of the series Legacy of Kain games.
What will this game be? In an announcement last year, Hennig described it with the following words:
"The Marvel universe embodies the full action, mystery and excitement of the adventure [game - ed. note] genre that I love, and it's perfect as setting for an interactive experience."
Star Wars game remains distant
It is worth adding that Skydance New Media has also undertaken a collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Its result is expected to be an action adventure game offering an original storyline and set in the universe of Star Wars. However, it seems that the games development is at a rather early stage, so it is unlikely that we will see it at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.
