Discord on PS5 is Getting Closer; You Can Now Link Your Account to PlayStation Network
Last year, Sony partnered with Discord, and starting today you can link your PlayStation Network account to the messenger. This is the first stage of the messenger's expansion on Sony's consoles.
Last May we learned about the beginning of Sony's cooperation with Discord, currently the most popular instant messenger in the world. The first results were to be seen in early 2022. Word was kept and from now on you can officially link your PlayStation Network account with the messenger.
After linking accounts, Discord friends can see what you are currently playing on PS4 or PS5. Pairing platforms and functioning of the whole system is based on the same principles as in the case of other accounts such as Steam, Xbox or Spotify.
It is also worth mentioning that although it is possible to link an Xbox account with Discord, there is still no official messenger application for Microsoft's consoles. Those who want to can use the unofficial software called Quarrel Insider, which is currently in beta.
How do I connect my PlayStation Network account with Discord?
From today, when you turn on Discord, you should automatically receive a notification about the new possibility of connecting accounts. If for some reason you didn't get that message, just go to User Settings & Linked Accounts and log into PlayStation Network there.
Linking the two accounts is so far all that can be done as part of the collaboration between the two companies. However, this step brings us closer to Discord coming to Sony's consoles on a wider scale. The introduction of this feature should be seen as a harbinger of the arrival of the messenger on PS5 and PS4.
