Maxing Out Diablo Immortal Characters Can Cost Over $500 Thousand
Diablo Immortal may require spending up to $540k to max out a single character. Players have discovered a gem upgrade „mechanic” due to which the approximate cost of maxing out a character is higher than previously speculated.
- Maxing out your character in Diablo Immortal costs more than we thought - over $500 thousand.
- Randomization in Diablo Immortal makes life difficult even for the paying players. The chances of getting a five-star legendary item from a dungeon are less than 1%.
Although Diablo Immortal was released almost a month ago, the amount of microtransactions in the game doesn't cease to amaze. One of the players at the beginning of June calculated that maxing out a character would cost about 110 thousand dollars. Recently this amount turned out to be only a fraction of what you actually have to spend. This is due to a hidden mechanic called resonance.
100 000 dollars is not enough
Until now, the calculations took into account that you have to pay for six five-star legendary gems. You have to spend a total about $16,600 for maxing out all gems, which is already an unimaginable amount. It turns out that on top of that you still have to add gem awakenings. After awakening you need to unlock the resonance, thanks to which you can upgrade the gem. For the process we need another 5 gems for each of the previous six. Because of this, maxing out a character requires not 6, but as many as 36 5-star gems.
Of course, awakening is not possible without paying. It requires special items available only in the store, called dawning echos. So currently such an awakening costs about $30.
You have little chance
This is not the end of the expenses. In order to get legendary gems at all, the player must complete the Ancient Rifts. However, these randomly generated dungeons do not provide a guaranteed gem reward. Reddit user BullHorn7 has calculated that the chances of receiving a five-star legendary gem are less than 1%. However, you can - who would have guessed - increase those odds with real money. Before entering an Ancient Rift, you can equip yourself with 10 eternal legendary emblems. This will cost about $30. And we still have no guarantee that we will get a five-star legendary gem for the effort.
This was proven by streamer Quin69, who decided to get legendary jewels by buying emblems. In the end, with the help of viewers, he spent almost several thousand dollars. Despite this, he failed to get any gem and abandoned the game. Calculations by both ShiftYourCarcass and BullHorn7 suggest that to max out a character you need to spend from 300 thousand to even 600 thousand dollars, depending on your luck. Wow!
