Diablo Immortal Devs May be Working on Another Popular Franchise
Chinese studio NetEase, creators of Diablo Immortal, are said to have been working for several years on a mobile spin-off of the well-known first-person shooter series.
Anonymous source reached by TheGamePost claims that Chinese studio NetEase, creators of Diablo Immortal, has been working on a mobile spin-off to Destiny series for more than two years now. The game reportedly will not be an ordinary mobile port of Destiny 2.
Instead, we are to receive an entirely new title set in this universe (most likely an FPS). This scenario seems to be confirmed by additional clues.
Evidence of NetEase's involvement
In early 2019, NetEase announced that it has invested more than $100 million in in studio Bungie (creators of Destiny), which was recently acquired by Sony for $3.6 billion.
- Additionally, the aforementioned TheGamePost hinted in its article at an unspecified profile of a NetEase employee on LinkedIn. It claimed that he was helping to develop an "unannounced mobile FPS" ..
- Moreover, last September TheGamePost reported that there were job advertisements on Bungie's website, in which the studio was looking for experienced mobile game developers.
- The description of these jobs mentioned "willingness to travel to China" and the information that knowledge of the local language is welcome.
It is worth recalling that the recently released Diablo Immortal has become an object of controversy due to intrusive microtransactions.
