Diablo 4 Trailer Has More Bugs Than a Termite Colony; Blizzard Messed Up Again
Shortly before the launch of Diablo 4's second season, Blizzard scored a major blunder. The trailer presenting the upcoming changes turned out to be full of schoolboy mistakes.
Although it seemed that Blizzard had somewhat improved its image ahead of the launch of the second season of online gameplay in Diablo IV - by announcing many significant changes that appealed to the community - the company once again lost in the eyes of players. To make matters worse, Blizzard has shot itself in the foot, incompetently demonstrating upcoming novelties or making schoolboy mistakes in their presentation.
In recent days, the trailer for the second season hit the web, and it was riddled with mistakes. They were caught by a YouTube user by the handle Raxx(anterax), who - funnily enough - has appeared in Blizzard's official materials, such as this one.
- An example of a revised map of one of the dungeons was mistakenly swapped places with the "old" one, from Season of the Malignant.
- Improvements in the speed at which mounts move were presented in such a way that it is impossible to determine which shot is moving faster.
The icing on the cake, however, turned out to be mathematical errors:
- the experience bonus in Season of the Malignant was calculated by multiplying 1,000 XP by a 40 percent bonus (1.4), which gave Blizzard a result of 1040 PD (instead of 1400 XP).;
- the experience bonus for the Season of Blood, on the other hand, was calculated by first multiplying 1,000 XP by 1.2, and then multiplying the resulting number once again by 1.2 (these values correspond to the bonus provided by the potion and the seasonal bonus) - only that Blizzard ended up with 1400 XP (the correct result is 1440 XP).
To quote Raxx: "Blizzard, I'm trying to get a little hyped before the season, but you're making it very difficult [laughs]." You can watch the footage in question below. The trailer on which it is based has been removed for obvious reasons.
It is worth adding that this is not the first such mishap by the devs. In August, footage was published showing two female developers playing Diablo IV. The community instantly noticed that the ladies are not very good at it, which, according to some, was a good explanation for the game's many problems. Interestingly, this footage has not been deleted - you can find it here.
Season of Blood in Diablo IV will launch tomorrow - here you can check what will happen to your seasonal characters. On the same day the game will launch on Valve's platform. It should also work without any problems on Steam Deck.
